Lutheran Northwest Junior Joey Morrison had the amazing opportunity to be one of a small number of Detroit area students to participate in this year’s You Make a Difference (YM@D) Program, run by GM Design! Joey was selected for this intensive, 15-week course in automotive sketching and sculpting based on a portfolio and essay that he submitted.

Students met for two hours Thursday evenings from October to March at the GM Design Center in Warren. Starting with basic perspective drawing and shading on paper, they quickly moved to sculpting 1/10 scale models. Students worked in teams of two to create a model to “Compete for the Brief” based on their vision of a 2030 humanitarian aid vehicle.  Check out the full project brief, along with more photos of Joey’s design below.

Congratulations, Joey, and best wishes on your potential career in automotive design!
