Serving the Community

Community Projects

Empty Bowls Supper: Each year, Lutheran Northwest Ceramics students make bowls and then offer them for a donation at a soup supper at St. John Lutheran in Fraser. The event proceeds then go to benefit the homeless.

Authors and Illustrators: The fourth grade students from Our Shepherd Lutheran School in Birmingham write poems which Lutheran Northwest art students then illustrate for them. The authors and illustrators meet for a party and the authors are given their illustrated artwork to take home.

The Memory Project: Each year, photos of children in difficult circumstances are sent to Lutheran Northwest art students who then draw portraits of the students. See the video above for the story of the 2023 recipients receiving their portraits in Nigeria!
