Interim 2024

April 2-5, 2024

Interim is a one week educational experience where students take a non-traditional course in a subject area that is of interest to them.  Teachers will teach an Interim course that pertains to a subject/topic/hobby that they are passionate about.  Interim is a break from traditional classroom learning.

The structure of the class will vary from teacher to teacher.  Some classes may spend most of their time in a classroom, while others may be off campus for most of the day.

The time the classes meet will vary as well.  This is all dependent on the activity the teacher has planned for that day.  Some classes may have to meet early in the morning and some classes may start later in the day.

Each Interim class will earn the student a quarter credit.  After four years of high school, the students will have earned a full credit that can be applied toward their elective credits.

Interim is a pass/fail class. For the most part, there are no formal assessments given (tests, quizzes, etc…).  If a student misses two or more school days during Interim, they automatically fail the Interim class.

Interim classes will take place in a variety of places.  Some classes will meet in the classroom, others will meet on campus and then depart for their activity for the day, and some classes are never on campus as they may be on overnight destinations.

Students will select their top six Interim classes and submit them as they would when designing their normal semester classes.  Seniors will have preference for class selection, then juniors, sophomores, and freshmen.  Students may not get their top choice for an Interim class.  Preference is given in order of grade level starting with the seniors, and by the order the registration forms are turned in.  Class size is determined by the teacher.  Some classes will have a maximum amount of students allowed, and some may have a minimum amount allowed. Students will not be allowed to take the same class more than once throughout their high school career.

Interim classes vary on cost per class.  The estimated prices are described in each syllabus.  Also, please be aware that transportation costs are not currently factored in. Transportation costs are determined after students have signed up.  Transportation costs are largely determined based on the number of students signed up in a class.
